The Gift of Kings®

This outstanding wool has an impressively fine diameter on average. Pure and gleaming white in colour, it has a crimped structure and natural stretch and offers supreme softness against the skin, along with its ability to wick away moisture and absorb excess heat. All these properties make The Gift of Kings® a unique fibre.

With finesses that vary infinitesimally, the extraordinary result achieved by the breeders reflects their incessant dedication to producing ever-finer and better-performing wool, which can only be obtained from the shearing of a selection of unique Merino sheep, raised by generations of expert breeders. 

The raw material used to create The Gift of Kings® is produced by a selected group of breeders from New Zealand and Australia that participate in the Record Bale Award. Born in 1997 from Loro Piana’s search for exclusive Merino wools, the award has inspired breeders across Australia and New Zealand to create fibres of remarkable finesse, resulting in significant refinements in fibre diameter, with fibres significantly improved since the first Record Bale.

In 2022, Loro Piana launched a new authenticity and traceability service certified by Aura Blockchain Consortium. Thanks to this initiative, promoted by several luxury Maisons, customers can verify the authenticity and traceability of garments crafted from The Gift of Kings® by scanning the QR code on the labels. This process provides them with more details about the garment’s story, from its origin, through the key stages of its creation to its arrival in store.
